Portland - Mt Gambier Tour Update
Thursday saw us waving goodbye to Portland, a place we will return to, being opposite the port in the Hotel enabled us to watch the fascinating practices of the wood chip B doubles emptying their loads from 60 degrees up in the air, they run 24 hours a day.
Anyway we left Portland and went to Bridgewater Bay, a beach side town that the locals go to. Beautiful beach and scenic drive from there to Glenelg River, where we boarded our 2.5hour luncheon cruise, everyone enjoyed the cruise, it was relaxing with lovely views, commentary and fresh lunch.
From there we made the short trip to โ€œThe Mountโ€ lots of healthy happy Cows in these parts along with beautiful gardens and luscious fields as well as heaps of forestry. The higher rainfall and volcanic soil combine to make this region very picturesque.๐Ÿ˜
The afternoon was spent resting as it was really raining however mid tour is a good time to have an afternoon rest, so it was ok,after all you canโ€™t help the weather๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ
This morning our local lovely guide Andre joined us for a day of touring, and the weather was much better giving us sunny intervals to sight see.
Beautiful parks, gardens, lookouts, lunch at Pt Macdonnell, a visit to a huge private garden and Caroline Winery rounded out our day. Tonight we all enjoyed much chatter at dinner time and I felt contented and happy listening to laughter and lots of chatter amongst everyone, again new friendships, new experiences shared with good people, a recipe indeed for laughter and loud chatter ๐Ÿ˜˜
Tomorrow a visit to a Rose grower - Wagners Roses then back through the South East then through the Hills to Lyndoch Hill where there are 30,000 roses planted with paths wandering through, an appropriate end to a great tour!

Prior to moving to Darwin, your Son-in-law worked for the National Parks service patrolling from Bridgewater Bay along Discovery Bay Coastal Reserve through to Nelson & the Lower Glenelg National Park - it’s a beautiful part of Australia which lm guessing has changed heaps since l left.

Some lovely photos Kim. ๐Ÿ˜€

A wonderful tour, great company, and the best tour leaders who look after their groups so very well. Thank you David and Kim ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™‚

Hahndorf, Portland Tour Update
Well with another lovely group we headed off to Hahndorf on Monday, a smooth travel day with plenty of time upon arrival to wander the pretty Main St.
We met up at the Haus for a 2 course dinner before getting a good nights rest before continuing our journey to Portland.
Tuesday saw us travelling through the South East, having morning tea and picking up our last guest from Keith then lunch at the bakery in Penola where a prospective guest met us to find out about our Whales Tour ๐Ÿ˜Š
The afternoon saw us crossing the border into Vic and checking into our hotel.
A huge dinner overlooking Portland Harbour before retiring for the night.
Today after a yummy breakfast we made our way to Treloars Roses for an informative tour followed by strawberries and cream from the local Strawberry farm. Onto the Cable tram next for a 1 hour round trip with great commentary, it is cold today but the Tram was definitely worthwhile at the conclusion of the journey, we had lunch in the depot, sandwiches, slices and fruit salad.
Next Gary our tour guide for a Portland highlights tour met us and we boarded the coach to get an informative tour from Gary.
Then it was free time, a rest for some, a wander for others.
Now itโ€™s off for dinner!

Final Tasmania Tour Update
Well the last few days have flown by, so thought I had better post an update!
We had a busy couple of days in and around Launceston, we stayed at the very central Best Western and enjoyed our spacious rooms and great food.
Our first morning there saw us enjoying a peaceful cruise on the junction of the North and South Esk Rivers - Tamar river, interesting commentary, beautiful weather and sensational scenery, was a great way to start the day ๐Ÿ˜Š
Next was Cataract Gorge and a ride on the Worlds longest single span Chair Lift, some went on with trepidation but all loved it in the end! A busy itinerary saw us heading to Tasmania Zoo next to meet Poppy a baby Tassie Devil a lunch of fresh sandwiches and some free time to see other Animals however we still had one more appointment for the day....Beaconsfield Mine for a tour with Nigel, itโ€™s always good to see him and even though we have done it many times, I still learn something new each time!
Yesterday saw us enjoying some free morning time in Launceston before heading to Deloraine to walk down the hill wandering in and out of some interesting shops before meeting the coach at the bottom then onto the Raspberry Farm for lunch, next Ashgrove Cheese for a presentation and tasting, many purchases were made at both๐Ÿ˜˜ Next Anvers Chocolates for tasting and more purchases! Then it was off to Devonport to have a group photo at the Lighthouse before boarding the Spirit of Tasmania for an other incredibly smooth crossing back to Melbourne.
We are now on our way back to Adelaide.
A touch of sadness was probably felt by all when leaving Tasmania, itโ€™s been another wonderful tour over there with another wonderful group ๐Ÿ˜
Thanks for following the updates and next years is already booking though we are changing it a bit, still doing the West Coast Cruise, train, Rhododendron gardens but the tour will be a bit longer as we will add some time in on the East Coast for new adventures! 25th Oct - 6th Nov 2020

Sounds magnificent, Clare & I can hardly wait for 2020. High country trip & Tasmania.

Very pleased you visited the township of Ross as you have to go off the main highway and it is such a pretty country town with lots of history.

Tasmania Tour Update
Itโ€™s been a few days since the last post!
So Iโ€™ll pick up where I left off!
Day 3 in Queenstown saw us on the West Coast Wilderness Railway enjoying the incredible views from the beautiful steam train, gold panning at the first stop, morning tea at Rinadeena Station then a Rainforest walk and Queens River as well as the Steam Engine being turned around by hand on the turntable!
Next it was lunch in the Paragon Theatre - pasta with your choice of sauce before settling out on the tour with Roam Wild Tasmania to the Margaret River Hydroelectric Power Station and a local Ridgey didge Timber Mill to see the rarest timbers... Sassafras, King Billy and Huon Pine, late afternoon we returned to the Motel and we enjoyed our last night at the Goldrush!
Friday morning we left to make our way to Hobart with some great stops on the way, Nelsonโ€™s Falls for a boardwalk through the rainforest to the amazing falls, a great morning activity then for the windy road to Derwent Bridge to visit the Wall (no photos allowed) then it was onto the Salmon Ponds in Plenty for savoury crepes for lunch followed by a wander around the ponds and hatchery. We arrived in Hobart for check in and a freshen up before dinner at the Irish Pub Shamrock.
Saturday in Hobart was a free day with just about everyone doing Salamanca Markets then some doing the Red double decker Bus tour, some doing Pt Arthur, a couple doing Mona and others wandering the docks and city, we met up at tea time and all enjoyed a lovely meal at the Duke Hotel.
Today has seen us depart Hobart with first up a visit to the Signal Station at Point Nelson then onto the quaint village of Richmond for an hour of wandering, a look at Australiaโ€™s oldest working bridge and the stunning Georgian buildings, now we are on our way to Ross!
