I would like to add my praise for the wonderful way in which the tour was organised. I too would like to say how safe I felt and the interaction between Kim and David and the tour group made every one feel at home. The fact that you booked us into other family businesses added to the feeling of "family" that was the signature of the trip. I will recommend your business whenever I get a chance and hope I can travel with you again.

I had a lovely holiday with all you fellow travellers, being a small group we got to know each other very well, even though some of us have known each other for many years but have reconnected! DAVID could make that bus dance and whirled us around all these mountains and corners in an amazing and very reassuring safe fashion. Thanks to you both, we just walked in to pre-arranged venues and received top treatment, with top meals and accommodation. I also liked the way you supported family owned businesses who you returned to. Fully recommended company!

Day 4 – BRIGHT TO THE WANDILIGONG VALLEY
Friday 1st May 2020
We wake to the freshness of the mountain air, we are surrounded by the beauty of the area, and being autumn the colours will be memorizing – burnt orange, deep reds, earth tone browns, haystack yellow, and this is just the leaves! We meet up with our guide for a look at this enchanting town, nestled in the beautiful Ovens Valley and surrounded by the towering Australian Alps. Bright has managed to retain its character and charm, thanks partly to its old-fashioned guesthouses and historical buildings and its surrounds have been described by experts as one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in the world. We also travel along one of the most beautiful drives in this area – through the Wandiligong Valley. The whole Valley has been registered with the National Trust. To the south of the town we can see the noted Wandi Poplars (at their best in the autumn). Today about 250 people live in the valley, many of whom work in the apple orchards. We visit the Wandiligong Maze, Australia’s largest living hedge maze, surrounded by gardens, where we will have lunch. Next, we pay a visit to Nightingale Bros – Alpine Apples, fresh and delicious locally grown apples, Chestnuts, Hazlenuts and Walnuts. The Nightingale family has been growing apples in the Wandiligong Valley since 1954. You may want to stock up with some fresh local produce of the area.
DAY 5 – BRIGHT AUTUMN LEAVES FESTIVAL
Saturday 2nd May 2020
The Bright Autumn Festival is a ten day celebration of the wonderful autumn colours and autumn produce of the valleys of Victoria’s Alpine High Country. We’re lucky enough to be here for the highlight of the festival – the Rotary Gala Day! So we can enjoy the markets, bands and entertainment at our leisure followed this afternoon by the Grand Parade, the highlight of the festival! After the parade, follow the police band down to the river bank or perhaps enjoy some relaxing time in your room before dinner tonight.
(Breakfast and dinner at the motel)
DAY 6 – LEGENDARY BEECHWORTH
Sunday 3rd May 2020
This morning we head to Beechworth, where on arrival we will be joined on the coach by a local expert who will show us around the town which is one of Victoria’s best preserved gold rush towns. The magnificent buildings, 32 of which are listed by the National Trust and the beautiful gardens are a legacy of the gold rush days. Next we embark on a tour of the historic Court House. Built in 1858 and in continuous service for 131 years, the Beechworth Courthouse retains its original furniture and fittings. It was here that Australia’s most famous bushranger, Ned Kelly, was committed to stand trial for murder. His mother Ellen, brothers Dan and Jim and Uncle Jim Kelly also faced charges in this courtroom. We’ll see the Burke Museum – one of the oldest country museums in Victoria. Lunch today is at own cost; perhaps indulge at the famous Beechworth Bakery. We take a little time to wander the Beechworth Historic and Cultural Precinct – The Telegraph Station, Town Hall, and Powder Magazine all part of the collection of nationally significant buildings. We visit The Kelly Vault that houses the original Ned Kelly’s death mask, Ned Kelly’s gun named Betty, Brother Dan Kelly’s pistol and the original table from the verandah of the Anne Jones Hotel. After an interesting day we return to Bright for dinner in our motel.
(Breakfast and dinner in motel)
DAY 7 – BRIGHT TO BALLARAT
Monday 4th May 2020
We farewell our hosts and checkout of our motel, we make a stop to the little township of Eurobin visiting the Red Stag Deer Farm, established in 1987 as a commercial Deer Farm. It is situated on a 375 acre property, bordering the Mt Buffalo National Park, overlooking the beautiful High Country. This unique farm gives us the opportunity to feed, touch and learn about these majestic animals with their unique characters and instinctive behaviour. After our talk and some time with the animals we enjoy morning tea. We now head into Glenrowan, the heart of Kelly Country where the Kelly Gang made their last stand against the police and the town where Joe Byrne, Dan Kelly, Steve Hart and a local man Martin Cherry lost their lives. We enjoy lunch at Dad and Dave’s Billy Tea Rooms. Sit back and relax as we travel through to Ballarat for our overnight stay.
