We arrive on the island early afternoon where we are met by a representative from Baunti Escapes. We will be welcomed to the island then transferred to our accommodation at the South Pacific Resort. DAY 3 – (BD) DISCOVER NORFOLK ISLAND
Tuesday 16 February 2021
Today we are collected by Baunti Escapes for the Discover Our World tour. We will be introduced to the island to set the scene for our stay. Our tour includes a visit to the convict buildings in historic Kingston and St Barnabas Chapel, built from the ruins of the New Gaol. We can purchase lunch in town before returning to the resort where we embark on the Farm & Industry Tour. Tourism to the island might the Norfolk’s largest industry but it is by no means its only one. On this tour, we take you to a selection of the many other enterprises that sustain our community. These might include: raising meat producing sheep, market gardening, pig farming, manufacturing soft drinks and liqueurs, gardening or exporting Kentia seedlings. Mid-afternoon we return to the resort and the remainder of the day is free before we meet again for dinner. Tonight, following dinner, we join Baunti Escapes for the 1856 Untold Story tour, as they bring the past to life by recounting stories of the original families – told by todays descendants. The 1856 untold story will follow their journey in the World Heritage Kingston area, about where they lived and how they adapted to their new life on Norfolk Island.

DAY 4 – (BHTD) NORFOLK TODAY & WONDERLAND BY NIGHT
Wednesday 17 February 2021
After breakfast we join the Norfolk Today Tour. We’ll learn how Norfolk Islanders live in the 21st century and make life on this tiny South Pacific Island possible. How is petrol and gas brought to the island? How is the island powered? This is a behind the scenes tour where we’ll meet the locals and see how Norfolk plays a role in the worldwide weather monitoring as well as visiting the community radio station. A highlight of our tour will be a visit to Forresters Court. High on a clifftop, overlooking Cascade Bay, we arrive at Forresters Court for a delicious High Tea. Served on their magnificent lawns, we’ll enjoy decadent food, a glass of sparkling wine and the glorious scenery. A beautifully presented setting with linen and fine china we enjoy our tea and coffee and a selection of local liqueurs to round out our indulgent afternoon. Following dinner, we travel into the bushland of Norfolk Island. It is here that we are treated to a Wonderland By Night! The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. We’ll meander along (or ride in the ‘Moon Buggy’) a winding pathway with Archie, a descendant of the Bounty Mutineers, as he recites his poems and lights up the dioramas throughout the bush. Afterwards we enjoy a light supper.

DAY 5 – (BD) NORFOLK ISLAND TODAY
Thursday 18 February 2021
We have a different breakfast setting this morning as we are taken on a gentle-paced walk through a diverse habitat from rainforest to the Captain Cook Memorial. As we ramble along the track our guide will identify local grasses, ferns, shrubs as well as bird species. Our efforts will be rewarded with a delicious barbeque breakfast with all the trimmings. It will be a wonderful way to start our day. We have some free time for lunch and early afternoon we head to Emily Bay we take in the unique Glass Bottomed Boat tour. Our guide will share their knowledge of Norfolk’s marine life and once we’ve “walked the plank” with these ‘mutineer descendants’ it takes a minute to get to the reef. Here we’re able to view beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. Tonight we freshen up for an evening of meeting the locals on the Progressive Dinner. This is the perfect way to get a taste of the real Norfolk lifestyle. Our first stop is at the northern tip of the island to enjoy pre-dinner nibbles at a clifftop home with amazing ocean views. The evening finishes with main course and dessert at a large family home on the southern side of the island. Our host will also entertain us with some of his island experiences and share some of the historical practices and industries.

DAY 6 – (BD) GARDENS, BOOKS & CONVICTS
Friday 19 February 2021
Our Gardeners Delight tour will take us on a journey behind the scenes to experience a market garden complete with a flower garden and an orchard. See a secluded old Island home surrounded by the most amazing gardens and irrigated by a hand dug well which was dug in the convict era. The next stop is the labour of love garden which is inspirational. You will also visit the picturesque gardens with amazing views. Returning to our hotel we have some free time before we visit the property of the late Colleen McCullough today. The world renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years and today we have the opportunity to see into her world. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. Some of her most powerful titles were created in this much loved sanctuary. Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open and we are escorted through her magnificent home where we are able to view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. We will see where her books were researched and where she worked into the wee hours creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages. We complete our interesting day with a fun night out for all ages and join the Night as a Convict Dinner! We dress as convicts and along with the Commandant, we are in for an evening of gaiety, feasting and singing. Our convict outfits are issued to us for the evening!! Great food! Great fun!
